Gregory Miles Lewis is a drummer, composer, educator, and international recording artist based in Los Angeles, CA. His musical works have recently been supported by the Nevada Arts Council and the Lillian Disney Foundation.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Nevada, Reno where he studied Jazz and Percussion Performance, as well as a Master of Fine Arts Degree from California Institute of the Arts where he studied jazz drum set with Joe LaBarbera (Bill Evans Trio), composition with David Roitstein, and North Indian classical music with Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri.

Greg’s compositional works range from new music to progressive rock, indie, and electronic. He has collaborated, recorded, and performed with many world-renown artists including Vinny Golia, Nels Cline (Wilco),  Xiutezcatl, Tonina, Heather Rivas, master Dagomba dancer and drummer Sulley Imoro, Adam Benjamin (Kneebody), Indian classical sarodist Aashish Khan, and many more. In 2022, Greg was honored to be selected as one of 9 composers to have his original music recorded at Capitol Records as part of the 2022 CalArts Jazz Album. (http://jazzarchive.calarts.edu). Greg’s work as a session drummer can be heard on dozens of albums, as well as on television with Cartoon Network, Tillamook™, Costa Brazil, Attersee Clothing, and Toyota.

Greg tours extensively around the globe with critically-acclaimed math rock/experimental duo Rob Ford Explorer. They have released four EPs and performed at such venues as the Mathcore Index Festival, Bristol Quasar Kino Festival, Family Vacation Music Festival, Arlene’s Grocery NYC, 924 Gilman, Roy. O. Disney Music Hall, and hundreds of DIY venues, house shows and basements.

Greg endorses Canopus Drums, and continues to receive an abundance of support from Teenage Engineering electronics.
